Asked to design a set and light show for Dave Dobbyn’s first NZ tour since the pandemic stopped touring in NZ I wanted to do something that was out of the box in terms of design …. Then I thought, actually, a box is a good idea. We built a cube for the band to live inside with one corner open to the audience. All sides of the cube were lines with LED batons that was then mapped to play down video. The simple set gave us plenty of options for different looks trough out the show and was reasonably contained in terms of the fixture count. The regional tour cube was 4m and the larger stadium cube 7m.
